Glen Downey is a Canadian children’s author, teacher,
and academic. He has written more than eighty books for young people across a
variety of genres that focus on the development of adolescent literacy. An
award-winning educator, Glen currently teaches at Centre Dufferin District High
School in Shelburne, Ontario. He has worked as an educator at a number of
secondary and postsecondary institutions, including Appleby College, the
Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, the University of British Columbia,
and the University of Victoria. Glen received his Ph.D. in English from the
University of Victoria (1998), and earned his B.A. (1991) and M.A. (1992) from
McMaster University. He was awarded the University of British Columbia’s Ian
Fairclough Prize for Teaching in 2000, and was the University of Western
Ontario’s top education graduate in 2001. Glen has written scholarly articles
for a range of print and online forums, and appears in the PBS Telecourse, English
Composition: Writing for an Audience.
